Hudson On the Hudson

In 2017 someone in a shoreline restaurant saw a white bird frozen in the river waving wings. Workers in the restaurant looked closer, and it was a swan. Swans are not known to be on the river. Together they formed a rescue mission successfully. Eventually, there were two; then, there was one again. Local neighborhood people that visit the river for the view begin feeding the swan from time to time; however, the swan is perfectly able to survive by itself. Now, in winter snow, the bird stays near the restaurant and has shelter plus food. Recently I began to visit the river park more, and when I saw this huge swan, I could not believe my eyes. A female and male mallard duck pair seemed to be near the swan.

Two days ago, before it snowed, I rode my Spyder Cam Am down to the river again. There was the swan, and I parked to see the swan and its friends. The swan was on the boat ramp sitting calmly and did not move when I rode nearby. Within a minute, a Subaru drove in and parked, and a lady hopped out and went straight away to within a yard of the birds. She sat on a cement deck in the middle of the ramp and began to talk to the swan. I silently watched as the swan seemed to talk back to her. The two clearly knew each other, and I could feel their loving energy. They were old friends. I watched wonderfully as the swan’s black web feet appeared, and I thought it would walk up to her. She had no food.

Several minutes passed, and I decided to wait and speak with her about these three odd feathered friends, two floating and one sitting. She often visits the river to see this white feathered friend. She is a widow of twenty-two years and comes to the river like many to chill the mind. Her life is pretty quiet. She has been visiting the swan for five years and noticed the mallard couple showing up a couple of years back. She says they are together constantly now. She has a love connection with the swan. She says she talks to him, and he talks to her. He has given her much comfort over the years.

Then another car drove up, and a lady quickly jumped out with a bag. She went down to the river and dumped birdseed on the ramp near the swan which had returned to the water. The swan swam to the mound of food and began eating. The seeds were gone within minutes. This lady came to say hello, and she, too, knows the story of the swan. She also visits it whenever she sees it out her window. 000She shared that everyone in the community loves the swan. She shared that swan’s mate for life, and there used to be another one, but no one knows why the smaller one disappeared. She wondered if the male swan would continue to live here once the mate disappeared. Evidently, the male also disappeared for a few months but is back.

The people named him “Hudson.” I believe the people should name every bridge or monument.

We three new acquaintances began a conversation that led to another friendly exchange. People are smiling and nice everywhere we go, living everyday life. Wisdom of years teaches one to slow down and take in nature. Take a moment to breathe, turn off phones and computers, and be grateful to just be alive. Nature has a way of calming the mind and bringing people together, if only for a few minutes to share the calm water, the calm birds, the calm conversation of three ladies content with life such as it is, enjoying three birds floating on a river.

February, a month for love, reminds us that human nature is to care for every living thing; to think otherwise is rare. Love for the present moment. It is a beautiful gift to be alive, breathe fresh air, feel the sun on your face, and just be. Maybe Hudson was sent to unite people on the Hudson River.

A Freediver Can Hold A Breath 24 Minutes

In “Freediving,” the diver must practice for years to hold a breath this long. Aleix Sugura Vendrell of Spain took up the sport from his mother, another freediving champion. The beauty of the ocean and the depths that these athletes can dive has broken previous conceptions of what can be done by the human body.

Freedivers, he says, have always defied limits, defied scientific understanding. In the 1940s, researchers believed the pressure 100 feet below sea level would rupture a diver's lungs. Today, freedivers routinely plunge unassisted to depths in excess of 300 feet. "We always think we've reached the limit," Segura says. "But we're always wrong."

On 27 March 2021, Budimir Ĺ obat (Croatia) broke the record for the longest time breath held voluntarily (male) with a staggering time of 24 minutes 37.36 seconds.

"While I am doing my maximum static apnea I have my eyes closed and all I am focused on is to try to hear my heartbeat. Once I heard it I became calm and ready to fight the time." "In fact, my age gave me a benefit of experience to stay calm at the critical moments.

His top three tips are:

  1. Never skip the training.
  2. It's better to be over trained then out of shape.
  3. Don’t just do it. Do it right no matter what.

“Freediving is first of all a mental sport. If you can be stronger than your mind, you will succeed.”

Freediving alone is extremely dangerous, which is why you must always dive with a buddy. While freediving is a sport anyone can learn, the only safe way to do so is through an in-person course.

I’m starting to see a pattern in every aspect of life, focus, train, do it right, do it every day, and breathe. We become a champion of living a calmer, stress-free life. Skip trying to find motivation and decide to do it for you. You can practice breathing calmly anywhere. Six breaths, in through the nose and out through the mouth, easy. Again, whenever feeling anxious, breathe six breaths. Easy, yes, I practice this too.

This year we can focus on our heartbeat, close our eyes, slow down each day for 24 minutes or more sounds good, and just breathe. Relax. Life is fun; focus on positive experiences, turn off technology and walk outside. We have control over what we focus on and how we choose to perceive. We always have this ability; we can choose to focus on positives, be calm and make it a practice. I suggest find a meditation and exercise daily for the health of your mind. You are worth the time, and it does not cost a dime.

Everything is a mental sport.

Enjoy your life in case it is the only one you have.

We Are the Inner Workings of a Great Timepiece of Brain Evolution

The inner workings of a fine watch determine the accuracy of the time it keeps.

The mechanics of a watch start with a crown, and manual movements must be wound every day to work correctly.

The crown winds up a coil spring, causing it to store energy, and it is wound until you feel a slight resistance. Too much, you break it, just enough it continues to keep time regularly.

The energy, when released, moves into a series of small gears to the balance wheel. The balance wheel oscillates in a circular motion to make the hands on the clock move according to the meter of the balance wheel.

This constant movement creates friction between the metal gears. Synthetic jewel bearings reduce friction and improve the performance and accuracy of the timepiece.

To adjust the time, pull out the crown and rotate it clockwise. And to avoid undue wear and tear of the mechanical components, try not to turn the crown spring counterclockwise more than necessary.

The mechanics of thought start with an idea, and the movement must be repeated daily to convince the mind.

The crown of any idea winds up a spring of actions to gain momentum until independent critical thinking skills discover resistance. Too much opposition to an argument will break it. Enough compliance will keep the vision alive.

The questions and research to find informed answers are born of experience living life. Experiences move the tiny gears of every mind that thinks.

A fine watch is repaired, and a cheap one is thrown away. The price one pays for such a timepiece determines the direction of its fate. Thoughts are the same; how much time did we put into believing this one thing? Are we willing to change our thinking if it no longer proves true?

The world is in flux of many things this year, and we have to THINK of new ideas that fit this timepiece of evolution in beliefs. Thoughts that no longer serve to improve humanity and the world must be revised, replaced, repaired, or removed. Old ideas need to be fazed out as these have served the purpose for which these were created and are no longer required.

"We, the people of the world, become the great timepiece of "peaceful" evolution to restore a balance wheel of collaborative thoughts that unite us through freedom. We form the crown of our beliefs individually, and in a ripple effect collectively, we become the great timepiece of evolution. If peace is to be, it starts with me.

It's going to be a great year! Happy New Year 2023! Significant changes are arising in evolution.

WE Are The Change The World Needs Now

Everything we experience, every action we take, always comes back to what we think and who we have chosen to have in our immediate sphere of influence. We choose our life every day.  We evaluate situations and attach our perspective to the outcome based on our thinking.  Are we operating from a negative or positive analysis?  Where did we learn our viewpoint? Where is our attention? What concerns us most?

It is my experience that once you know yourself and are confident of your purpose in life, you can set healthy boundaries and give others the benefit of the doubt. The need to control others evaporates, and the need to be the center of attention dissolves. Answers arise from our collaborations, and change happens.

How much influence do you have to change anything you do not like starts with changing you and then taking action to speak out.

Everything outside of you is NOT your business; if you try to CONTROL others, you will lose every time. No one likes to be controlled by another; indeed, when you are operating from a solid positive foundation of caring, there is no need to control anyone but yourself. So when YOU know you can land on your feet come what may, you are empowered to speak and consider other opinions. We can individually take responsibility for our focus; therefore, collectively, it will work.

The greatest gift you will ever give yourself is to be in control of your feelings, actions, and thoughts. Anger and sympathy (aka victimhood & toxic caring) do not benefit anyone. When you gain control of your emotions, you will give others the same leeway to control themselves.

When actions are free from guilt or shame, helping others becomes beneficial for everyone. There is a difference in caring actions, and the outcome is evident. The greatest gift you can give the world is your idea with positive boundaries and an open mind.

Today there is an overload of excuses for destructive behaviors without subduing the actions of the persons causing harm to others. If ever there was a time to speak out for health regulations and unity with peace for all, it is now.

Learning to think for yourself is the key. Every change begins with a thought, your thought.

We are the positive change the world needs now, thankful for you and me unafraid.
